We're so happy you've found us in your search for the PERFECT Australian Shepherd for your home, family, farm, ranch, homestead, herding, agility, conformation and wiggle butt needs!!!  After years of keeping our dogs exclusively to ourselves, we've decided to begin offering a select few of our pups to the outside world.  Litters from Libre Winds will be extremely limited as breeding is not our main focus- our Aussies are our family members first and foremost! 

We ARE the home of "COLOR, CLASS & CHARISMA!"  Excellence is our standard! 

It's a rare occasion when we produce litters here at Libre Winds, but when we do breed, we have a very specific goal in what we produce!  First and foremost, we pursue ASCA/AKC registration for our dogs and have committed our breed program to dogs that fulfill the original standards set by our breed's registry- the Australian Shepherd Club of America.  We demand excellence in every attribute of the breed and we strive for a very specific type of Aussie with a very distinctive look- "The Libre Winds Look!"  Due to the Australian Shepherds extraordinary variety of colors (in addition to sound health, conformation, talent and temperament), we've been able to specialize in a look that is exclusively ours.  As breeders, we've endeavored to produce solid-colored dogs with a limited Irish Spotting Pattern (limited white trim) and we aim for colors that are exceptionally rich and deep.  We've consistently produced those distinct characteristics that make our breed so unique and extraordinary (split faces, wild merles, etc).  Australian Shepherds are THEE color breed!  Our pups are made with a conformation that is well-boned and square yet still able to move effectively with and under stock.  Our dogs are full-coated and able to carry weight in the conformation ring.  We prefer rich amber eyes on all coat colors and breed to consistently produce the richest and deepest of amber color over and over again in our puppies.  We do not breed specifically for BET (blue-eyed tri) pups though the BET gene is often carried strongly in the dogs we choose for our breed program.  We have an ideal ear set we prefer for our dogs and will not breed and have NEVER bred dogs who do not adhere to ASCA conformation standards (dogs with incorrect ear sets, prick ears or other major conformation faults are never used in the Libre Winds breed program).  We gear our breeding program specifically toward solid coat colors (selfs & bis), but with the infinite variety of our breed, we've always got love for our wild-colored merles and ALL the sweet Aussie babies that make their way into our world no matter what their colors!  We only breed OFA certified, fully health tested dogs who test with an OFA hip rating of Good or Excellent.  Our dogs are eye tested annually.
 
Here at Libre, we produce a dog with both "Show and Go!!!" ~ a versatile, all-around dog that can do well in the agility and herding rings while also giving conformation dogs a run for their money!  Most importantly, we focus on producing puppies that will provide the greatest friendship, love and protection as the most loyal of family members- having excellent temperaments is paramount!  We aim for the perfect balance & blend of ALL our breed's best characteristics.  Our breed was created to be a rancher's best-friend and we believe in producing an all-around dog that remains true to that purpose!  We ARE preservation breeders dedicated to the foundations of our breed and consistently breeding to the original standard of excellence set forth by our breed's founders!
